A Stroll through Meran
Known as God’s garden, a spa town of distinction, recognised at least since the time of "Empress Sissi" as a favorite destination for high society - Meran has quickened the senses since time immemorial. Stefan Zweig felt "nature’s peace inscribed into this world".

Even if the tempo of the world has picked somewhat today, Meran’s particular charms still reveal themselves most pleasantly, as in earlier days, at walking speed:
along the spa promenade, the Tappeinerweg, in the old town: Belle Époque buildings and splendid façades give the town its character. The spa resort and municipal theatre buildings are both recognised jewels of Jugendstil; the Church of St. Nikolaus, likewise a landmark, was built in the Gothic style.

But Meran is more than a mere monument to a great past: the Meran Musikwochen Festival and the Meran Wine Festival have deservedly earned an international reputation, and the Meran Thermal Baths set new, modern standards. In cafés, young people switch effortlessly between German and Italian; live bands play exuberant jazz in clubs; and the spa promenade is full of people late into the night.

What is the best time to take a walk around Meran? Friday! Every Friday, merchants from near and far offer their wares at the Market (5 min. from the hotel). Whether you're loading up with fresh fruit, South Tyrolean "Bauernspeck" (farmhouse bacon), or only want to take in the atmosphere, you’ll always take a large, large portion of Meran back home with you ...
