Over 2,000 years ago, a string of prehistoric Alpine trails were developed into the Via Claudia Augusta. The ancient Roman highway led from the Danube all the way down to the Adriatic Sea. Today, the former imperial highway is a popular cycleway stretching along 700 km of gorgeous landscape, history, and culture. The 60 km section through the Val Venosta in South Tyrol has been a favourite of cyclists for a long time, its beautiful setting and wonderful landscape background make it a highlight for the whole family.
