A Garden with History

If trees could talk...

Over 5 decades ago the cornerstone of Hotel Wiesenhof garden was laid. Planned by Prof. Karl Ludwig Honeck, a well-known horticultural engineer, the gardens of Hotel Wiesenhof in Lagundo have been continuously developed and expanded over the years.

From the Beginning…

The story of our garden

Prof. Karl Ludwig Honeck was a renowned South Tyrolean horticultural engineer who also worked, among other places, in Munich. In 1963, he designed the gardens of the newly built Hotel Wiesenhof in Lagundo. Honeck was able to import rare and exotic plants to South Tyrol. He bequeathed a few of these exquisite specimens also to the gardens of Hotel Wiesenhof. The precious plants thrived extraordinarily well, to the delight of the Schrötter family and their guests, until one night several of the prized plants were excavated and stolen. This criminal intermission did not deter the Schrötter family from continuing to expand their gardens and to enrich them with more botanical treasures. In 1982 the gardens around the outdoor pool were newly arranged during the construction of the annexe. In 2009, during the hotel enlargement, the entire park was expanded and received its current shape.

Unique holiday moments in the Wiesenhof.
